The Chicago Urban Forest Study (CUFS) is a collaborative effort between The Morton Arboretum Soil Science and Forest Ecology Labs to further our understanding of urban forest responses and mitigation potential related to projected climate change. We are specifically interested in the role of carbon sequestration and turnover in the urban landscape and the resilience of the urban forest and tree species to climatic variability.
